Dial-Up Networking Configuration

The following are instructions along with illustrations on how to configure Dial up Networking feature in Windows 95/98 for a connection to BMIC.NET.

Please note you must already have Dial Up Networking installed on your PC. To locate dial up networking, hit the Start button on your task bar, go to Programs, then to Accessories. Dial Up Networking should be listed as in figure 1 Below:

Once in the Dial-Up Networking Folder, you should see listed the BMIC.NET connection. If this is missing double click on Make New Connection and follow the prompts to add BMIC.Net (be sure to select your modem), our access number is (906)248-3050.

Now check to ensure that the Dial-Up networking configuration for BMIC.Net is correct. This is done by Right Clicking Once on the BMIC.Net Icon as pictured in Fig 2 above. Then select Properties from the Pop-Up Menu.


You should see the following screen:

If you used the BMIC.NET CD to perform this task, then you may have to select your modem, unless you actually have a 56K External modem. Use the pull down list to select your modem.


Now configure the Networks Server Type by clicking on the Server Type Settings TAB.

Ensure that the settings as listed above for connection to BMIC.Net match those on your screen. Otherwise you may get such errors as "unable to negotiate" or "Incorrect username/password".

To connect to the Internet, simply double click on the BMIC.Net Icon. Your User Name and password are Case Sensitive. When asked for User Name and Password "Please pay close attention to upper and lower case characters when placing this information."
